This workshop is designed to give students a very accessible introduction to soldering as done in jewelry-making. What makes this soldering workshop different from others? It's kept simple, safe and non-toxic. Using a butane torch, students will learn essential soldering techniques for soldering any metal. The class project will be soldering Vintaj brass. The skills are transferrable to other metals as well, including sterling silver, fine silver, gold-filled, karat gold, and copper. Topics covered include fire safety, annealing, work hardening, and oxidizing.
