The glass in the Roman glass beads was made about 2000 years ago by the Romans who roamed the continent. The raw shards were excavated and cut into beads in Afghanistan. The "ancient glass" beads were from glass bangles made about 1500-2000 years ago.  The broken bangles were excavated in Afghanistan and made into beads in modern times.
