Instructions for MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE NECKLACE Back to Mediterranean Cruise Necklace Design Idea Page Techniques Used Basic Linking technique (PDF) Opening and closing a jump ring Tools Needed Round nose pliers Chain nose pliers Flush cutters Step By Step Instructions To assemble this necklace, you will first assemble the individual components, and then join them with chain. Please note that you don’t have to cut the Vintaj chain, but simply open and close the links with your chain nose pliers. (If you have two pairs of pliers, it makes it even easier!) 1. Make 2 of these components (“Lampwork component #1”): on a 2” eye pin, place a small (4mm) scalloped bead cap, a 4mm gold pearl, an Ornate bead cap, a Mediterranean oval lampwork bead, another Ornate bead cap, a 4mm gold pearl., and then a small scalloped bead cap. Make a simple loop on the other end of the eye pin. 2. Make one of these components (“Lampwork component #2”): on the 2-1/2” headpin, place a small scalloped bead cap, a 4mm gold pearl, an Ornate bead cap, a Mediterranean oval lampwork bead, another Ornate bead cap, a 4mm gold pearl, and then a scalloped bead cap. Make a simple loop on the other end of the head pin. 3. Make 4 of these components (“Large gold pearl component”): on a 2” eye pin, place a small (2x3) yellow rondelle, a small scalloped bead cap, a 6mm gold pearl, a heishe spacer bead, a large (8x10) yellow rondelle, a heishe spacer bead, a 6mm gold pearl, a small scalloped bead cap, and a small yellow rondelle. Make a simple loop on the other end of the eye pin. 4. Make 2 of these components (“large Tahitian pearl component”): on a 2” eye pin, place a small (3x5) aqua rondelle, a scalloped bead cap, a 6mm Tahitian pearl, a heishe spacer bead,a large (8x10) yellow rondelle, a heishe spacer bead, a 6 mm Tahitian pearl, a scalloped bead cap, and a small aqua rondelle. Make a simple loop on the other end of the eye pin. 5. Make 4 of these components (“small gold component”): on a 1” eye pin, place a heishe spacer, a large (8x10) yellow rondelle, and a heishe spacer. Make a simple loop on the other end of the eye pin. 6. Make 2 of these components (“small Tahitian component”): on a 1” eye pin, place small scalloped bead cap ,a Tahitian pearl, and a small scalloped bead cap. Make a simple loop on the other end of the eye pin. 7. Now you are ready to separate the chain. Using your chain nose pliers, make 2 lengths of chain which are 5 links each. Then separate the rest of the chain into 8 individual links. 8. Pick up the Ornate Wreath Filigree. Open and fasten a single link of the chain to the edge of the filigree, directly above one of the tulip-shaped flowers on the filigree, leaving the end of the link open. Now you will string the components you made (listed by number above), opening and closing either the eye pins or the chain links to fasten them together: #5 (small gold) component, #1 (lampwork)component, #5 (small gold)component, single link, #3 (large gold pearl) component, single link, #4 (large Tahitian) component, single link, #3 (large gold pearl) component, 6 links, #6 (small Tahitian) component, and then add one half of the magnetic barrel clasp. 9. Pick up the Ornate Wreath Filigree. Open and fasten a single link of the chain to the edge of the filigree, directly above the next adjacent tulip-shaped flowers on the filigree. Now string the components you made (listed by number above), opening and closing either the eye pins or the chain links to fasten them together: : #5 (small gold) component, #1 (lampwork)component, #5 (small gold)component, single link, #3 (large gold pearl) component, single link, #4 (large Tahitian) component, single link, #3 (large gold pearl) component, 6 links, #6 (small Tahitian) component, and then add the other half of the magnetic barrel clasp. ALMOST DONE! 10. Pick up the #2 (Lampwork #2 component). You will want to make it a dangle centered on the bottom of the Ornate Wreath Filigree. The best way to do this is to hold up your almost-completed necklace—to see how beautifully it hangs!—and to find where the bottom center of the filigree is. Attach the open end of component #2 to the filigree edge. 11. Now how to attach the cute little pearl in the center of the Ornate Wreath Filigree? First, on a 1” head pin, place a small scalloped bead cap, the remaining 6mm Tahitian pearl, and another small scalloped bead cap. Make a simple loop on the end. Now open the two jump rings and carefully place them EACH in the top center of the Ornate Wreath Filigree, over the center hole (you may need to look at the picture to make sure you have it positioned well), one on either side of the center strut. Now carefully sidle in the top loop of the headpin into BOTH jump rings. It takes a little maneuvering to carefully close the jump rings. YOU ARE DONE! ADMIRE YOUR BEAUTIFUL NECKLACE!
